Deep Exploration in Gunung Leuser National Park
Starting from Bukit Lawang
Day 1 – Jungle Introduction & First Wildlife Search
After breakfast in Bukit Lawang, we enter the rainforest and begin our ascent into the national park.
Today you will: • Learn jungle safety and trekking techniques
• Search for wild Sumatran orangutan
• Spot Thomas leaf monkeys and macaques
• Enjoy panoramic jungle viewpoints
Trekking: 5–6 hours
Camp: Riverside campsite
Evening: Fresh jungle dinner and relaxation under rainforest sounds
Day 2 – Deeper Into Primary Forest
We leave the more common trails and move deeper into the jungle.
Wildlife opportunities: • Orangutans in natural behavior
• White-handed gibbons calling in the morning
• Hornbills flying above the canopy
• Monitor lizards near rivers
Your guide will also explain: • Medicinal plants
• Edible jungle leaves
• Animal footprints and signs
Trekking: 6–7 hours
Camp near waterfall or quiet riverbank
Day 3 – Remote Expedition Zone
Today becomes more adventurous as we explore remote rainforest areas with fewer visitors.
Possible wildlife: • Pig-tailed macaques
• Gibbons
• Rare bird species
We cross small rivers and walk under giant rainforest trees.
Camp deep inside the jungle.
At night, listen to the natural symphony of insects and forest life.
Day 4 – Elephant Territory Exploration
We continue trekking toward deeper ecosystem zones where wildlife movement is more active.
There is a possibility to encounter signs of
Sumatran elephant
such as footprints, broken branches, or — if lucky — direct sightings from a safe distance.
(We always respect wildlife and keep safe space.)
Trekking through mixed terrain: • Hills
• River crossings
• Dense forest
Camp in a remote peaceful area.
Day 5 – Return Route With New Trails
We begin our return using a different route to increase wildlife opportunities.
High chance to see: • Orangutans again
• Gibbons
• Tropical birds
• Butterflies and jungle insects
Final jungle camp celebration dinner with your team.
Share stories, relax, and enjoy your last night in the wild.
Day 6 – River Trek & Tubing Back
After breakfast, short trek toward the river.
Enjoy traditional jungle river tubing back to Bukit Lawang — a fun and refreshing way to finish your expedition.
